Bluehost is a web hosting company that allows users to purchase, host, and manage domains.

If you have a Bluehost account, you may be wondering about the process to unassign domain names from your account when you no longer want to utilize these domains.

This guide will cover how to delete a domain name or multiple domains from your Bluehost account which is much the same process to delete a Weblogic domain.

How to Delete Bluehost Domain Names

1. Log in To Your Bluehost Hosting Account

The first step in deleting a domain name on Bluehost is logging in to your account.

Go to the Bluehost website, select "Login" in the top right corner, and enter your username and password.

2. Navigate To Your Domain Portfolio

Next, select "Domain" at the top of the page to view your domain name portfolio.

This page will show you all of the domains you currently have registered on your Bluehost account.

3. Select the Domain You Would Like To Unassign

Your next step is to search for and select the domain you would like to unassign from your account.

Once you click on the domain, a window will open with information about its expiration date, Cpanel type, and sub-domains.

4. Click "Unassign Domain"

Next to the Cpanel type, you will see a link that says "Unassign Domain."

Click this link, then confirm that you would like to unassign the domain.

5. Remove the Domain From Your Bluehost Account

After you click "Unassign Domain," you will need to remove the domain from your Bluehost account manually.

Navigate back to your domain list and select the domain you just unassigned. Then click the link on the right side of the domain list that says, "Remove the domain from this list."

What Happens When You Delete a Domain From Bluehost?

The terms "delete" and "unassign" are interchangeable on Bluehost.

Both of these terms refer to removing a domain from your account, which means that you will no longer be able to manage or edit the web page associated with that domain.

However, when you delete a domain on your Bluehost account, no file loss will occur. You can still access associated files through your account page.

Remember that a deleted domains with PageRank could hold some decent value, so if you think your domain is worthless make sure you do some research before you delete it.

Can You Delete a Primary Domain?

Bluehost requires its users to designate one of their domains as their primary domain.

The primary domain is the domain that customers use to log in to their accounts and identify their account names to the Bluehost admin team.

Because your primary domain is closely linked to your account, you cannot delete it while it is your primary domain.

Instead, you will need to designate another domain as your primary one, then unassign the web address from your account.

To change primary accounts, you will need to contact the Bluehost tech support team.

Can You Unassign All Of Your Bluehost Domains?

Bluehost requires users to have at least one domain that stays associated with their accounts.  This is similar to when you delete a Namecheap domain name, though you can have a NameCheap account without a domain assigned.

If you only have one domain on Bluehost your primary domain and you would like to unassign it from your account, you will need to contact customer support.

You may need to assign a new domain to replace your primary one or remove your portfolio from the platform altogether.
