However, to register a .gt domain name you must have a registered address located in Guatemala.
To register a .gt you must comply with the current regulations on this matter. It is, therefore, necessary that the bidders meet these requirements:
1) Citizen of Guatemala or legal resident in Guatemala, holding proof of same.
2) Company duly registered in the Commercial Registry of Guatemala, proof thereof.
3) Legal proof that the organization has been active for at least two years before the date on which you intend to register a .gt domain name.
4) Must be legally entitled to use the proposed character string as a domain name.
The registration of a .gt domain name is for 1 (one) year. For the renewal, you must enter your current credentials and provide payment of 50% more than that paid at the time of initial registration.
When registering .gt domain names it is important to remember that they should contain only letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (-). Names containing other special characters will not be accepted.
This is how it works:
1) If the domain name you are interested in is available, they will send you a link to access your user profile and enter your data for the purchase.
2) The confirmation of registration will only be made when the full payment is received.
3) The domain name and services are selected and confirmed, and if required the creation of a new website will be activated on the dates indicated during the process.
Once this is done successfully, the Registry shall send an email confirming that the new domain name has been ordered and registered in its system.
The standard procedure is to set up an autorenewal for your .gt domain. This way, the year will automatically be renewed on the date when it expires and you don't have to worry about anything.
Once you've completed the registration process, the Registry will send you an email to confirm that the effective date of registration will be in one or two working days.
To register a .gt domain name you can choose between two options:
1) Add the legal address in Guatemala to the existing internationalized domain name.
2) Register an internationalized country code top-level domain for Guatemala (.gt).
