What are the restrictions on domain names with the .mp extension?

The following restrictions apply:

- There can be no more than one .mp domain name per person, organization, or company.

- The 4th and 5th level domains under .mp can not exceed 17 characters each (16 alphanumeric characters plus a "-").

- Registration of additional levels under 4th and 5th level domain names is not allowed.

- Registrations must be accompanied by the appropriate documents confirming eligibility to register a .mp domain name.

- Generic Top-Level Domains, which are all official TLDs or two-letter codes used in various countries or regions of the world.

- Names which are in the official language of the Northern Mariana Islands.

- Acronyms or abbreviations that make no sense in the local language.

What are the acceptable character lengths for these domain names?

The following are all acceptable characters for .mp domains: a-z 0-9 - _ ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + = { } [ ] \ | : ; " ' , . ? / and all characters from A–Z, a-z and 0-9.


How can I register a .mp domain name?

You will need to provide them with the following information:

The domain name you want to register;

One of the following:

- The company's registered business license (in which case, the name listed in the license will be used);

- Your CNIC; or,

- A power of attorney letter issued by the company (in which case, the name in the letter will be used).

The organization you are representing, if other than a company;

Your address and phone number or the address and phone number of your organization's main office;

E-mail address for your organization, if different from the one you provided in point 3 above. If you do not have an e-mail address for your organization, please provide us with the address where you would like us to send our verification letter.

At least one of the required fields must be filled in order for your request to be processed.

If a field is not applicable, enter "N/A", "not available", or "none". Please note that we only accept Arabic numerals/numbers (0, 1, 2, 3, ... 9) and we do not allow any other symbols/codes in the name fields.
